1701 Locust Street Philadelphia 215-772-1701 [http://www.theprimerib.com] Known as "The Civilized Steakhouse," due to the classy atmosphere complemented by live piano, the required jacket and tie for gentlemen, and the 1940's Manhattan supper club decor. However, perhaps the word "civilized" can apply to the food as well, such as the aged prime rib, blue-ribbon steaks, extra thick chops and very fresh seafood including Maine Lobster. The tuxedoed waitstaff are a bit disconcerting at first, as they stand to the side while you deliberate your meal, but their mafia-ish presence only adds to the '40's feel. Reservations are recommended. --jen estaris-- Click for Directions - courtesy of maps.yahoo.com |
