1518 Walnut Street Philadelphia (215)545-6800 [http://www.circarestaurant.com/] While Circa has a great reputation for being an elite nightspot for trendy Philadelphians, the food it serves should receive more attention. The impressive Neoclassic dining room of the former bank, complete with marble walls and pillars leading to the spectacular ceiling, is analogous to the same delicate care used in preparing the food. For an appetizer, try the Pan Crisped Duck Ravioli or the Mediterranean Roast Shrimp, each served beautifully in generous portions. Entrees include many pasta, seafood and meat dishes, all of which deserve applause for inventiveness, such as the Roast Chilean Sea Bass and the Pepper Seared Tuna Pacific. The dessert selection is also quite posh, from the delicately buttered challah to a rich three-layer chocolate mousse cake. The waitstaff is only seemingly trendier-than-thou in their all-black outfits; they are friendly and informative, even on busy nights. Reservations recommended. --jen estaris-- Click for Directions - courtesy of maps.yahoo.com |
